pink asked:

We have a million different kinds and sizes of ornaments (pewter, handmade, regular, heavy, etc) and I hate storing them in the boxes they came in – not to mention trying to put them all back in the boxes to put back into storage for the other 11 months of the year. Is there something that is space-efficient but great at organizing how I can safely store my ornaments??

An inexpensive way might be to use an egg carton and place each small ornament you have in each slot. Then you can stack the egg cartons in one box.
Another suggestion would be to go and buy some of those plastic containers with lids, wrap each item in paper or tissue, and place them inside the container, mark it, and stack them.
The plastic containers are cheap at the dollar type stores.
Good luck, and Happy New Year to you!

We always put them back in the original boxes. They have padding so they aren’t rolling around, and it’s in a box which makes it easy to store. Then we put the ornament boxes, garland, lights, etc. into big 40-gallon totes. We have a bunch of totes that we stack in our attic. Then, you can just take the plastic totes down from the attic and sort through that when Christmas rolls around again.

If you REALLY don’t want to put them back in the original boxes, try shoe boxes filled with padding, like the stuffing for pillows. You can find it at craft stores, or in the sewing/craft sections of department stores.
