I purchased this item for outside by our gazebo. I had it for a week and a metal piece that was welded and holding the palm leaves broke off. I contacted the company and they sent a replacement pole right away. This fixed the problem. Other than that, the pole is made of steel and when it rains, it gets a little rust on it, can't be helped I guess, since it is outside. It looks very nice lit up at night but you cannot see it lit up during the day. I hope it lasts for a couple of summer seasons in upstate New York. Would recommend.
